CVW Expanding Capacity for Defence Components
28th August, 2008
CVW Engineering in Wetherill Park NSW is currently enhancing its Defence manufacturing capabilities to meet continuing increases in demand for complex precision machined components.
The company has been a key supplier in the manufacture of components for Defence customers such as Thales and Sercel over recent years, producing underwater mine-hunting and geological exploration equipment components and is now also pursuing expansion of its aerospace business. Producing complex components in exotic materials such as Titanium, CVW has invested heavily in the development of advanced machining processes to achieve necessary levels of operating efficiency and quality. Brian Hardy, CVW Operations Manager explained “ the parts we are producing incorporate a range of complex features like extended depth tight tolerance internal slots which require very unique machining strategies to produce efficiently and to the stringent process capability requirements imposed by the customer”.
CVW is now in the process of securing additional 5 axis and Mill-Turn CNC machining capacity and is also currently upgrading its current quality certifications to include aerospace certification AS 9100. Along with expansion of its Defence components business, the company has also recently secured new automotive component machining contracts with production volumes up to 500 k parts per annum.
